Thomas Pennant sends Linnaeus his descriptions of the following new birds:
Turdus nitens
Turdus
Sturnus rufirostris
Loxia with a grey head and body
Loxia with the head black on both sides
Emberiza
Emberiza collaris
Pennant also sends Linnaeus some observations:
Systema naturae, 12th edition, 240: Tantalus loculator is Pelecanus onocrotalus.
Tetrao urogallus, Lagopus vulgaris and Tetrao, i.e., Grouse, are commented on.
At last Pennant has found a way to send Linnaeus a small parcel containing his Synopsis of quadrupeds, the third volume of his The British zoology concerning the reptiles and fish, etc. The parcel has been sent by the British royal messenger. Pennant asks Linnaeus to inquire for the parcel at the British ambassador John Goodrick. Pennant looks forward to receiving Johan Otto Hagström’s description of Lapland [Jemtlands oeconomiska beskrifning eller känning]. Pennant wants Linnaeus to send the description to John Goodrick immediately and to direct it: For Mr Pennant at Sir Stanier Porten’s in London.
