Notes
No date indicated, but probably late 19th century or early 20th century.
Ownership:
Included in a purchase of Eastern Turki manuscripts from Rev. David Gustafsson, formerly in Yarkand. It can be assumed that he acquired the Quran there, but it was no doubt written elsewhere, perhaps in Kashmir or some other place in India. That it has had an Eastern Turkestan owner is evident from a note on f. 1a, viz. "This Quran belongs to Tokhta Akhon", to which is added the beginning of a spell ... , no doubt the well known formula "If someone says it is mine his mouth will dry up." On f. 459b another note proving the Eastern Turkestan provenance of this Quran: ... , possibly to be understood as "I am Abd ur-Rahim Akhon 'the Quran-reader. Two of my pupils have read the Quran."
Acquisition:
The ms. was part of the Jarring collection of Eastern Turkistan manuscripts donated to the Lund University Library in 1982.
