Friedrich Charles Baër is grateful for Linnaeus´s letter where he can see that his services have pleased Linnaeus. Considering Linnaeus´s great achievements, his writings revealing the Nature´s mysteries, his indefatigable studies on Natural history and Nature itself and his teaching of Mankind, he cannot be decorated by a title but he himself decorates everybody.
Baër hopes that count Florentin’s [Louis, count of Saint Florentin and afterwards duke of La Vrilliere], the Kings´s Secretary and protector of the academies, letter [the letter was dated 1 December 1762{L6051}], forwarded by Baër eight days ago, has reached Linnaeus and he expects that Linnaeus will send a letter of thanks to the Secretary, Jean-Paul Grandjean de Fouchy.
P.S. Baër writes that the reknowned Bernard de Jussieu holds Linnaeus in high esteem with affection and respect.
