John Bartram has not heard anything from Linnaeus since he wrote to him in the spring. However, he uses an opportunity to send Linnaeus a small specimen of a plant that he considers very strange. A fairly detailed description of it and of Bartram’s method to cultivate it follows.
Bartram asks about Pehr Kalm’s descriptions of the plants that he had found in America. Kalm had promised to send a copy as soon as it was printed, but Bartram has not heard anything so far. Bartram is about to have a work on evergreens printed with the assistance of Peter Collinson, and he will send Linnaeus a copy when it is ready.
