Responding to matters evidently raised in Linnaeus’s letter of 20 October 1760{L2804} received on 1 December, Clas Alströmer expresses mock alarm should Linnaeus show his ‘stupid descriptions’ to a third party; recurs to a plant mentioned in an earlier letter, dated 10 1760{L2745}, of 10 and 5 gyn. foliis subul. pil. glutinosis that, he thinks may be a Ros solis Lusitanicua Grisleji; refers any question of expenses for an Amaryllis to Kryger [Samuel Gottlieb Krüger] in Helsingör, and asks Linnaeus for information about the two packages of seeds sent with it; thinks the box containing the Cynomorium that has probably died by the time of writing should best stay in Alingsås; and reports that the Tantalus loculator is in transit homewards. He admits that commissions concerning living creatures are troublesome; and can say only that José Ortega’s physical condition is poor; that old Juan Minuart is well; that José Quer y Martinez who is polite is of little account; that Miguel Barnades is always preoccupied, and that all he has learned of Pehr Löfling must be told later; and pays his respects to Linnaeus’s wife [Sara Elisabet Linnaea], and greets Carl [Carl Linnaeus the Younger ] and all his friends.
