Carl Reinhold Berch is honoured and flattered, to have been elected member of the Royal Society of Sciences [Kungliga Vetenskaps-Societeten i Uppsala]. Particularly so, as the Society has never been lavish with elections, or turned to others but those who are well known for exceptional knowledge of the “higher Sciences”.
Berch is prepared to submit his collection to the Society for its judgement.
He has a dissertation “De nummis gothorum extra Svio-Gothiam” ready in Swedish. He plans to have it translated into Latin. His own Latin is somewhat rusty.
He hopes that Linnaeus will convey his respects to his illustrious colleagues of the Royal Society of Sciences.
