Linnaeus had been requested by the Chancellor of the Uppsala University [Carl Gyllenborg] to comment upon voting in the Faculty of Medicine, for the appointment to Adjunctus and especially the fact that Abraham Bäck had been excluded from the proposal. Linnaeus says that he had put Bäck in the first place. Linnaeus submits it to the chancellor to consider the procedure whereby, in a Faculty consisting of two members, the dean with his casting vote is able to exclude from the final proposal a person Linnaeus had put in the first place.
