Linnaeus writes to the Secretary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences [Kungliga Svenska Vetenskapsakademien, i.e., Pehr Elvius] that it is an annoyance that botanists, when referring to this plant, write: Limnia act[is] Stockh[olmiensis] 1746, p . . t.1.f.1. vitiosa [Linnaeus refers to his "Limnia, en obekant vext"]. But what to do?
The illustration should be coloured and placed beneath Jean Eric Rehn’s illustration. Linnaeus has views on the illustration as to the similarity to the plant in question.
Linnaeus wants Elvius to send it back and he will submit his report to actis Acad[emiae] Imperialis [Linnaeus refers to the Commentarii Academiae Scientiarum Imperialis Petropolitanae, the transactions of the Imperial Academy of Sciences of St Petersburg, Imperatorskaja akademija nauk; however, a new illsutration was made and inserted later in the transactions of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences].
Linnaeus wishes Elvius well and reminds him of their Royal Highnesses [Adolf Fredrik and Lovisa Ulrika] coming visit to the Academy.
