Abstract
Old number 190. An Eastern Turki manuscript. A collection of originally Ottoman-Turkish marches, in Osmanli, here and there influenced by Eastern Turki. This collection belongs to the period when Pan-Turkic ideas emanating from Constantinople found their way to Eastern Turkistan before and during the First world war (cf. Gunnar Jarring, Gustaf Raquette and Qasim Akhun's Letters to Kamil efendi..., Lund, 1975 with references to relevant literature). The compiler of this collection of marches is unknown, that he was one of the Constantinople Turks who came to Kashghar during this period is beyond doubt. Perhaps he was the Hamid Efendi whose name is found on f. 10a and 20a. On f. 19b a note in Arabic; on ff. 22a-23b, 25b notes and names in Turki; on f. 27a a note on namaz; on 26b and 29a-b writing exercises; on f. 28b draft of a letter in Turki
