Abstract
Since Johann Bartsch has no opportunity to talk to Linnaeus he has to write again.
He has some questions regarding the printed sheet [Bartsch is referring to the work with
Flora Lapponica
], which he is now correcting.
Bartsch cites a passage and wonders whether there is not a contradiction. Bartsch also has some correction regarding
Agaricus
. He suggests Linnaeus to write:
Agaricus caulescens
.
Bartsch asks Linnaeus to read through the enclosed sheet and send it back as soon as possible.
Bartsch would also like to receive the Index of authors.
The following day Bartsch hopes to be able to send Linnaeus the printed title with the dedication. Bartsch fears that he troubles Linnaeus too much.
P.S. Bartsch wonders whether Linnaeus knows anything about the new method through which live plants can be printed with the help of their colours.

Fautori suo Optimo
S[alutem] P[lurimam]
Joannes Bartsch.
Sic colloquiis Tuis privatus redeo ad litteras. Dubia quaedam supersunt in
impressa plagula, quam iam corrigo. Ita se habent verba:
Nemo aegre feret me
coniungere Fungos
istos annuos Amanitas et
Agaricos perennes, istos qui in petiolo peltatum gerunt pileum, et hos petiolo
destitutos et dimidiato pileo gaudentes. Fateor divisionem istam receptam posse
locum habere, quoad usum et facilitatem dignoscendi a se invicem hos tam multos,
tam infinitos; attamen cum viderim unam eamdemque speciem ligno insidentem
evasisse Agaricum, alterum vero individuum ex eodem semine Amanitam, ex eadem
specie,
diversa constitui genera
.
Q. annon hic occurrat contradictio? Annon debeat poni
diversa non constitui
genera
.
II.
Dubium omnes Agarici praecedentes et sequentes fuere caulescentes et
intermedius quidam occurrit, ubi omissa vox
Caulescens
. Habet se ita §:
Agaricus petiolo longo albo tunicato, pileo convexo albo, maculis albis et croceis
adsperso, lamellis albis.
Q. annon poni deberet: Agaricus
caulescens
, petiolo longo.
III
. Rogo, ut bene perlegas schedulam adpositam, eamque cito remittas.
IV
. Indicem auctorum quoque expeto.
Cras forte transmittam impressum Titulum una cum dedicatione, ut de eius habitu
externo iudicare queas. Ne aegre feras, me adeo frequentibus defatigare Tuam
benevolentiam litteris, verum et sic forsan Te invito Tuis animum meum exhilarare
studio responsionibus. Vale!
Lugd[uni] [1]737. d[ie] ☿ [Mercurii].
Nonne Tibi quid constat de methodo, qua plantas vivas suis imprimunt
chartae coloribus? Ex colloquio percepi, fuisse quemdam, qui hocce artificio et quod
plus mirum eamdem plantam cum flore quinquies imprimere scivit. Me, ut omnia, sic et
haec latent arcana.
