Abstract
This document is part of a series of interviews with former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. The interviews were conducted in 1945-1946 by the Polish Research Institute in Lund.
The witness was arrested on 15 December 1943. After her arrest by the Gestapo, she was placed in an individual cell in an abbey and seminary that had been converted into a prison by the Germans. For days, she listened to the screams of the fellow inmates being interrogated. On 11 January 1943, the witness was transported to the Gestapo camp in Inowrocław for interrogation. After finishing interrogation, she was driven back to Włocławek. On 12 February 1944, the witness was transported to the transit prison in Łódź. The cell was heavily infested with bedbugs. An incident took place where twins were born in the cell. During another childbirth, the baby died. There was no medical assistance. On 13 October 1944, the witness was selected for transport to Ravensbrück.
Notes
About the collection: At the end of World War II approximately 20,000 Nazi concentration camp prisoners were evacuated to Sweden. Many of them were Polish citizens. In order to document their experiences, Zygmunt Łakociński founded the Polish Research Institute in Lund. The collection contains 512 in-depth interviews with survivors, materials that they brought with them to Sweden, and also other material that the institute collected, compiled, and created.
