Abstract
The title of the book in the lower part of f. 4a. It is stated that it was originally written in Arabic and then into Persian and then brought together into Turki in the year 1109/1697-1698, in the year of the dog, on the 20th of the month of Rabi-ul-avval. Its author is the son of the Qazi of Rabat-Ghuri (sic!) Nasr-ud-Din. On f. 4b the title of the book is given as ... . On ff. 10a-11b an index of the 72 stories contained in the book. In some places the leaves bound in disorder by the bookbinder, viz. f. 20b continues on f. 210a, ff. 210-213 to be read before f. 207, f. 209 continues on f. 214. On f. 2b a register made by Ahlbert ending on p. 183. Abundant notes in the text with lead pencil, mainly translations into Swedish of different Turki words and expressions. Cf. Notes
Copyist: Abdu Vali, one of the mollahs employed by the Swedish Mission in Kashghar (f. 285a). No date indicated but the copy no doubt was made by Abdu Vali around 1933.
Ownership:
Copied for Rev. Gustaf Ahlbert in Kashghar in the 1930's. Later presented to Gunnar Jarring. G. Ahlbert's signature on the inside front cover and on f. 289b.
Acquisition:
The ms. was part of the Jarring collection of Eastern Turkistan manuscripts donated to the Lund University Library in 1982.
