Reverse legend: MEX·I·IMPERATOR · CONSTITUT·8·R·I·M · (''Mexico's 1st constitutional emperor, 8 Reales'').
History: Agustín de Iturbide was a Mexican army general and politician. During the Mexican War of Independence, he built a successful political and military coalition that took control in Mexico City on 27 September 1821, decisively gaining independence for Mexico.
The republican faction, however, was not happy with Iturbide as emperor and it did took only a few years before they forced Iturbide to abdicate and leave Mexico.
