Notes
Obverse description: Bust of Albert VII and Isabella to the right. Hand of God divides date.
Reverse description: Crowned arms of Spain, Austria and Burgundy kept by two lions. Symbol of the order of the golden fleece beneath.
Obverse legend: ALBERTVS.ET.ELISABET.DEI.GRATIA. 1619 (Albert and Elisabet, in the grace of God)
Reverse legend: ARCHIDVS;AVST.DVCES.BVRG.[ET].BRAB.[Z] (Archduke of Austria and Duke of Burgundy)
There are two things to be noted about this coin. First of all, on the obverse Isabella is portrayed as an equal to Albert VII. The primary reason to represent Isabella in this fashion is that it opened up the possibility that she could succeed Albert as soon as he passed away. Secondly, an interesting detail on the reverse of the coin is the inclusion of the symbol of the order of the golden fleece, which was a way of covering the heritage of the order's founder, Philip the Good who was duke of Burgundy during its apex of prosperity and prestige.
