Abstract
Old number 85. An Eastern Turki manuscript. Although both beginning and end are missing this manuscript can be established to be the ... (Muginov No. 293). It is the biography of Shaikh 'Abd ul-Qadir Djilani, whose name appears on f. 1b as ..., on f. 2a given a slight different name, viz ... . The name of the author appears on f. 1b as ..., whereas Muginov has: Muhammad Sadiq Suri Qadiri. The biography is divided into 91 ... of which the end of the 90th and the whole 91st are missing. Folios 1-100 partly destroyed by fire and replaced with new text on a different kind of paper. One loose page, numbered 1x which seems to belong to this ms., the lacuna of which is not to be found. No date indicated but the undamaged original pages indicate early 19th century.
Ownership:
On a label pasted on to the outside front cover: ... the meaning and origin of which Jarring has not been able to establish. Bought in 1930 in Kashghar by Gunnar Jarring. The bookseller Roze Akhond considered it to be a very rare book.
Acquisition:
The ms. was part of the Jarring collection of Eastern Turkistan manuscripts donated to the Lund University Library in 1982.
