Linnaeus writes to the Swedish Judicial Board for Public Lands and Funds [Kammarkollegium] that he has received Friedrich Hedenberg’s answers to Linnaeus’s questions [this letter has not come down to us]. Linnaeus thinks that Hedenberg understands the process although he keeps it secret. Linnaeus does not want to engage in discussion whether pearl-fishery is beneficial or not for Sweden. He suggests, however, that if activities are to begin in Finland, they should be spread all over the country.
Linnaeus s conclusion is that Hedenberg seems to have grasped the Chinese technique. He should be obliged to pass this knowledge on to many more for the benefit of the whole country.
As the postal delivery presses him today, Linnaeus cannot answer the Swedish Judicial Board for Public Lands and Funds as he should have done.
