Linnaeus asks Pehr Osbeck to go and see Grill [presumably Claes Grill] and ask him about Holm, the consul from Cette. Linnaeus wants to know if Christian Holm is still in Sweden and when he will return. Linnaeus had written Grill a letter a month earlier [this letter has not come down to us] without getting an answer. Linnaeus wanted to send a few books to Montpellier with Holm.
Linnaeus had sent Carl Gustaf Tessin a root of Dodecatheon and one of Mirabilis longiflora. He gives Osbeck advice about the care of these roots. The former should be kept well watered, and should be in the open air for part of the day; the latter should stand in sunlight in a warm room and should not get so much water.
Osbeck should ask the Countess Tessin [Lovisa Ulrica Tessin] what seeds she would like to have from Linnaeus.
