Linnaeus thanks Fredrik Sparre for the assistance he had got the last time he was at Drottningholm. Linnaeus had heard from Carl Gustaf Tessin that the Queen [Lovisa Ulrika] had received a large collection of insects from Holland. Linnaeus was not sure if that was meant as a hint that he should go to Stockholm or just to cheer him up since he was ill at the time. Now, Linnaeus is well again, so if they want Linnaeus to come, he can start thinking of it in a week. It would be very convenient that the cupboard meant for the insects was ready, so that they could be arranged at the same time. Linnaeus has also written to arrange for somewhere to keep his carriage during his stay in Stockholm. It is very difficult to find such a place in Stockholm, especially if the winter comes so that the wagon must be left for some time. You cannot leave it out in the street.
So, Linnaeus is ready to go, if Sparre asks Tessin if they really want him to go. Then, Linnaeus would like to see the King [Adolf Fredrik], to arrange the insects and at the same time be away as little time as possible. His pupils and students of medicine in Uppsala would be idle during his absence, since Nils Rosén von Rosenstein is also in Stockholm. They would have the cost of being in Uppsala without getting anything out of it.
