Linnaeus is very glad to have heard from Abraham Bäck that Carl Gustaf Tessin has looked after Pehr Osbeck and let Osbeck have a position in his house. Tessin had helped Linnaeus, and he had not ceased until Linnaeus had become well established. Tessin does not let those down that he has taken care of. Osbeck should stick to him at least until something more favourable appears.
Above all, Osbeck should work to get his travel report printed [the travel report was published in Dagbok öfwer en ostindisk resa]. It would be a great memorial.
Linnaeus would be glad to receive Osbeck in his house for some time, but Osbeck should follow Tessin’s wishes. It would be favourable for the publication of Osbeck’s descriptions.
Some of the plants described by Osbeck, Linnaeus has found in Georg Eberhard Rumpf´s work [Linnaeus refers to Rumpf´s, Herbarium Amboinense].
