Linnaeus thanks Pehr Osbeck for the packages that he has received. He gives the name of the plant that was enclosed in the latest letter.
For 21 of the 26 samples that Osbeck had sent him together with his latest letter [Osbeck to Linnaeus, undated, but written in July 1752{L5313}], Linnaeus gives a tentative definition or another comment, such as that he cannot define the species without also seeing its leaves. One of the comments mentions the work Species plantarum.
Linnaeus admits that this answer is somewhat hasty and adds that he may be able to give a fuller reply later.

The animal sent by Olof Torén was already known to Linnaeus, who had received a specimen preserved in alcohol from Magnus Lagerström. However, Linnaeus does not know what it is.
