Abstract
Old number 182. Contents; 1) ff. 1b-137a Qabus-name A book on morals and behaviour written by Amir Nasir Unsur al-Ma'ani Kaikaus bin Iskender bin Qabus bin Washmegir for his son Gilan Shah. The book is said to have been composed (f. 3a) in the year 455/1063-1064. It was originally written in Persian and Arabic (f. 3b). The present copy (redaction) was begun in 1199/1784 and finished in 1201/1786-1787 (f. 4b). The date of the present copy (f. 137a) is 1235/1819-1820 and it was finished on the seventh of the month of Ashur. The book is divided into 44 chapters of which an index is to be found on ff. 4b-5b. The title of the book is mentioned frequently on the book and also on f. 1a ... , "This book is called Qabus-name". For other copies of the Qabus-name cf. Rieu, p. 116 and Blochet 530, 935-939; 2) ff. 140b-155b "The victory book of rays of wisdom", a didactic religious work, translated probably from Persian (on f. 155b "This copy in the Turki language"). The title is indicated on f. 155b in two different ways. The copying date: 1211/1796-1797. It may be possible that this treatise is connected with Zetterstéen 385:4 and 406:3; 3) ff. 157b-173a The title evidently is ... , which occurs on f. 157b. The ms. begins with a story of the celebrated animal buraq which brought Mohammad from Jerusalem to heaven, and continues with other stories of the Prophet himself and other prophets. No date indicated, but no doubt the same age as the two preceding items. Cf. Muginov 355; Prov. 389; 4) ff. 173b-282a A history of the prophets translated from the Persian work with the same title of Saif az-Zafar Naubahari. This copy is dedicated to Abu-l-Muzaffar Mu'in ad-Din Khorazm Shah Bahadur Sultan (a prince of Kbiva according to Blochet 987). The title of the book is to be found on f. 174b and the name of the translator on the same page. The book is divided into 33 chapters of which an index is to be found on ff. 174b-175b. No copying date indicated, but judging from the general appearance this ms seams to be the same age as the preceding items, i.e. late 18th or early 19th century. Other copies: Prov. 91:1, 108:2, 111. Cf. further Zetterstéen 415, 416, Blochet 987, the Tashkent catalogue VII: 5555-5557; 5) ff. 282b-292a No date indicated, but probably of the same period as the preceding items. Other copies: Prov. 66:7, 108:4; Muginov 315, 316; Hartmann 55, 98; Zetterstéen 583:3, 585:2, 590:3, 600:8; 6) ff. 292b-294b No date indicated, but probably the same as the preceding items. Cf. Prov. 25:1, 108:3; 7) ff. 295b-307a No date indicated, but probably the same as the preceding item. Cf. Prov. 108:5, 383:2; Hartmann 62; Blochet 958; Zetterstéen 640; 8) ff. 307b-316a No date indicated, but most probably the same date as the preceding item. Cf. Prov. 39:10, 73:12; 9) ff. 316b-323a A treatise dealing with the prophet, Fatima and Moslem saints
