Torsten Gislén (1893- 1954) var professor i zoologi i Lund från 1932 och föreståndare för limnologiska institutionen i Lund och dess fältlaboratorium i Aneboda. Gislén studerade tagghudingar och företog omfattande forskningsresor, från vilka han lämnat livliga skildringar i sitt författarskap, bl.a. Den uppgående solens land (1933) och från Hawaiis stränder till New York (1935).
